Video calls (Alpha)
Go to Client portal → Call setup.
Set up the calling engine
Section titled “Set up the calling engine”Under Video Calling Engine, choose how calls are carried:
- Direct Server WebRTC (Default and recommended)
- Calls go through a relay hosted on our server, so nobody on the call can see anyone else’s IP address, including yours.
- Everything through the relay is end-to-end encrypted, so we can’t see or hear your calls either.
- Jitsi Meet
- Runs calls on a Jitsi server instead.
- This is a fallback in case our service has issues, or if in future we restrict access to our relay for bandwidth reasons.
Then choose:
- Video Call Quality.
- Default Call Interaction Mode: the mode that’s picked by default for new calls. Choose Two-Way Video Call, or Broadcast (Client Muted) if the client should only watch.
If you use Jitsi Meet, you can also set:
- Jitsi Meet Server Domain: the Jitsi server to use. The default is
jitsi.hamburg.ccc.de, which doesn’t need an account and is privacy-focused. We don’t recommendmeet.jit.si, as it can require people to log in.
Schedule a call
Section titled “Schedule a call”- Fill in the Client Name, Client WhatsApp Number, Call Title / Description, Duration and Call Mode.
- Save the call. The client gets a private link with a countdown to the call.
- When it’s time, select Launch room as Host to start the call.
Clients wait in a waiting room until you let them in. Next to each call you can copy the one-click link (Copy One-Click Link), send it by WhatsApp (Send WhatsApp) or delete the call (Delete Call).
Each call room has a random ID and an Access Password. You can make new ones with Generate a fresh room identifier and Generate new password. Keep the ID random, so nobody can guess it and join your room.
For client accounts and portal access, see Clients & login.
